On the way, we will drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains and make a few stops to visit Ifrane (the Switzerland of Morocco) and the Cedar Forest (a large forest area where monkeys live). This beautiful forest area is located near the town of Azrou.
After that, we will continue to our destination this day via Midelt and the Ziz Gorge, where we will take a break to enjoy the fascinating views and scenery. DAY 2 : EXPLORE MERZOUGA – CAMEL TREKKING- CAMP IN THE DESERT CAMP
Sahran culture and lifestyle are very interesting. Today we will try to visit and explore some places near Merzouga desert. We will start with the village of Khaamlia, which is a very old village. The people who live here are originally from Sudan, Mali and Sudan. Long time ago they were brought as slaves from these African countries. This village is also known for its unique Gnawa music style.
After lunch we visit a nomadic family and continue to Rissani, where we visit the impressive fortress towers (360 ksars) and the large souks. Later we drive back to Merzouga. The camel trekking starts in Merzouga. You will ride camels and be guided by an experienced camel driver. During this excursion to Erg Chebbi dunes you will see the breathtaking sunset in the desert.
Overnight stay and dinner in a Berber tent. Afterwards you can sit around the campfire and listen to the Berber drums. Also enjoy the view of the endless stars.
DAY 3 : MERZOUGA – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY :
Above the fascinating and high sand dunes of Erg Chebbi you will experience a wonderful view of the sunrise. Then we will take you back to Merzouga and ride on camels through the vast and quiet desert. At the hotel in Merzouga you will have breakfast and shower.
After that, the 3rd day of the 4-day trip from FES to MARRAKECH will continue with a ride to other places. We will drive to Todra gorge via the beautiful village of Tinghir. Besides the magnificent views and landscapes, Todra gorges are the highest and narrowest in Morocco. These characteristics make Todra Gorge an attraction for climbers.
